My mom-day 7

I've really enjoyed sharing these memories with you. I really feel it has helped me through this past week and that I'm ready to jump start my life and routine. Today was a great day and I have felt a lot of peace. I have also realized that I have other things now to do and take care of and I think I'm finally ready to get going on those. So the last memory I will leave with you is maybe more a piece of advice - don't wait until tomorrow to do what should have been done today. I'm really trying hard to live this now. I didn't take the time to listen to the stories my mom would tell. I know she told me things about her childhood and adult life, but I don't remember. Now I'm wishing I had taken the time to listen harder. Listen, share, and love. Don't let it pass you by.

my mom-day 6

These are the lyrics to the last song my mom was trying to play on the piano. Music was/is a very important part of our family.

Come home by: Penelope Allen and Michael moody

Come home, the Father calls. Come home, my child, to me. come home, the Holy Ghost will lead you to eternity.

Come home, the Savior calls. Come home all who\'ll obey. Come home. The gospel guides along the straight and narrow way.

Come home, loved voices call. Come home where you belong. Come home to live in joy forever in our family throng.

Lest we forget our home\'s with God, this lovely earth, it\'s seas, it\'s sky and all things beautiful and true of Heavenly Father testify.

This song has helped me remember what life is all about. I miss my mom a lot. But, I know we will be together again. If anything it leaves me with the great responsibility to help others understand our heavenly fathers plan. How blessed I am to have this great gospel in my life.

My Mom-day 4 & 5

Sorry to miss posting yesterday, I was out with the throw ups. Think I caught a little food poisoning. Yuck.

Anyways, today I wanted to post a little memory that my Aunt Sandra sent me:

Another memory I have is sitting in the car with her and Debbie.  Back then in the 60’s, you could leave your kids in the car and run into the store to grab a couple of things.  I wanted to have a singing group like the Monkey’s, or the Beach Boys and I always tried to get Debbie and Barbara to sing back up for me.  They’ve told me that it drove them crazy!  I was having fun!

I thought this memory was so great because when I was in the car with my mom she always made me sing back up or harmony with her too. I think her sister rubbed off on her.

For my second memory, I wanted you all to know that my mom loved reading. Not a big surprise, I know. But when I was home schooled in middle school, we would drive up to my grandma and grandpa's house and the whole time she would tell me about the books she was reading. Now when I tell a story it goes something like this, there was this guy who liked this girl the end. I don't have the memory to remember all the names and places and what so and so was doing. But my mom, she could remember everything and she was so entertaining that I would go and read the book she told about and it just wasn't as good. She really instilled a love of literature in me and I will be forever grateful that we had so many things we liked to do together.

My Mom-Day 3

When I was a little girl I would go my grandma's house and often times end up playing with my uncle. Granted he's only 5 years older than me, so we got along ok. I remember he had a tent of his army guys and I wanted one so badly for my barbies. Fortunately, I had a mom who could sew.  I think it was christmas and much to my surprise, I received a barbie tent. Was it home made? Yes! Was I a little disappointed that it didn't come from the store, what kid wouldn't have been. But my whole life was like that, we never had much money, but mom made sure that I was happy. She also made sure that I learned to sew. She never did anything without giving others the opportunity to learn what she knew. Most of my memories are like this one. Mom was so giving of her talents and I'm sure she's still giving.

My mom-day 2

Thanks to everyone who have been so supportive and loving.

Day 2:
The week before my moms stroke, she was in a hospital waiting to be transferred to Los Angeles. Any of you who met my mom probably knew that she loved word games. Well she had her iPad with her and since she couldn't talk with her ng tube in, we communicated through words with friends, which is a game like scrabble. The ng tube was quite painful and so she was really amped up on drugs lol anyways. We have consistently played this game and I have only beat her probably twice. Now don't get me wrong I do play my hardest and get quite a few points, she was just that good. Well the week she was in the hospital we played a game together and I swear that heavenly father wanted her to go out feeling good about herself because she beat me by 200 points, again to remind you, she was on drugs! I will remember that forever and I hope that they have scrabble in heaven because I really have to redeem myself.

My mom-day 1

I'm going to take this opportunity to write some memories of my mom. This may become boring for some, so I understand if you don't read my blog for awhile.

Day 1:

When I was about 5 or 6 my mom was sick, I guess I should say that she was usually sick. But anyways. I remember sitting with her on my parents bed reading dr. Seuss. But we didn't read just any dr Seuss, we read the tongue twisters like oh say can you say. And one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. We would each read them one at a time and see who could read them the fastest. We would even time our selves and try to beat each other. it would always end up in a gale of laughter. SHe tried so hard to be a good mom even when she didn't feel up to it. I really respected her for that.
